Overview

At YMCA Robin Hood, we provide supported accommodation for people who have found themselves homeless or at risk of homelessness. By offering safe, secure homes, we help residents rebuild their lives and work towards independent living through education or employment.

Typical Day

  • Start the day at the YMCA offices, check emails, and liaise with overnight staff about incidents or events.
  • Work individually and in small groups with residents to identify strengths and interests, and craft activities that build new skills, confidence and self‑esteem.
  • Explore pathways with local providers to open volunteer, education or employment opportunities.
  • Follow a schedule to ensure every resident is met on a regular basis.
  • Support tenancy‑related issues, issuing warnings or, if necessary, facilitating evictions.
  • Arrange and run sessions that develop residents’ life skills.

About You

  • Experience of supporting vulnerable or challenging people with a variety of needs.
  • Strong communication skills to build rapport and trust with residents.
  • Prior experience in supported housing or knowledge of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals.
  • Proactive, passionate and committed to providing fair opportunities and encouraging self‑discovery.
  • Understanding of homeless people’s needs and available services for effective signposting.
  • Comfortable working independently, managing your own schedule and collaborating with your team.
  • Position is Monday‑Friday but occasional early mornings, evenings or weekends may be required.
