Overview
The Senior Watersports Skill Clinic Leader will take ownership of the watersport sessions offered by the YMCA.
Working alongside a Paddle Sports Instructor, you will plan and deliver enjoyable and safe watersport sessions for children aged 8‑15, managing groups of up to 12 participants.
You will inspire young people to try watersports for the first time and help them develop their existing skills in a fun, supportive, confidence‑building environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and lead watersport sessions that are safe, engaging and age‑appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with a Paddle Sports Instructor to coordinate session logistics.
- Create a positive learning environment that encourages skill progression and confidence.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards and YMCA policies.
- Maintain regular communication with fellow camp leaders and management regarding session outcomes and participant progress.
- Commit to full weeks during each school holiday to guarantee consistency for participants.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in coaching, teaching or leading children, preferably in a watersport or outdoor setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High energy and enthusiastic approach to learning and teaching.
- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Pass enhanced DBS check (cost covered by YMCA) and registration with the DBS Update Service.
- Working Conditions
- Location: Beckett School, Nottinghamshire County Council.
- Camp days run from 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday‑Friday.
- Work during every Nottinghamshire County Council school holiday.
- Opportunities to return each holiday and to extend commitment across an academic year.
- Role is open for each school holiday cycle; the YMCA reserves the right to withdraw the position before the closing date if a suitable candidate is appointed early.
