Are you able to work weekends 23 hours per week and looking for a role where you can make a difference to a young person's life? As part of our dedicated housing provision in Nottingham City Centre, YMCA Robin Hood Group are looking for responsible, trustworthy and compassionate people to join our Support Housing team to oversee the smooth running of our buildings and give our residents the support and care they require.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice and assistance to residents.
- Provide keys and replacements where needed.
- Collect rent payments and handle queries or charges relating to rent payments.
- Ensure residents understand their tenant obligations, rights and responsibilities as outlined in the License Agreement.
- Respond to fire alarms.
- Act as the first point of call for incidents, including emergencies, and liaise with the police and other agencies to prevent damage or harm to residents and buildings.
- Handle crisis management and incident reporting.
- Perform facilities/domestic duties to maintain building upkeep, if needed.
- Support applications from prospective residents, including form filling and signposting to other agencies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience or interest in supported housing with vulnerable adults and young people aged 16‑24 years old.
- An understanding of the needs of young people (aged 16‑25) who may have drug, alcohol or other issues.
- Confidence to deal with difficult situations and handle conflict appropriately.
- Desire to learn skills for social work, youth work, housing, drug and alcohol services, rehabilitation services, sociology, security and related fields.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, use initiative, work alone and as part of a team.
- Responsiveness and effectiveness in handling emergencies.
- Conflict management, ability to manage aggressive behaviour and diffuse situations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to talk to people of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Ability to form and maintain relationships with appropriate professional boundaries, acting as a role model for residents.
- Successful completion of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check (paid by YMCA) and registration with the DBS Update Service.
