As part of our new dedicated housing provision for 16-24 year olds based in Nottingham, YMCA Robin Hood Group are looking for responsible, trustworthy and compassionate people to join our Support Housing team to oversee the smooth running of the building and give our residents all the support and care they require. This is your opportunity to be part of this from the very beginning!

Our Housing Duty Workers are at the heart and soul of our housing team; being the first person most of our residents come into contact with, you will be there to support them with anything they need and oversee the smooth running of the building in general. You will share in our belief that everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become. Being a Housing Duty Worker is one of the busiest and most varied roles in our service; you will cover everything from support work, incidents, administration, security, fire safety, cleaning support, and anything else that might crop up while you are on shift. With specific interest in supporting young people, you will enjoy variety, love being busy and thrive off never being able to predict exactly what will happen that day!

Responsibilities

  • Providing keys/replacements where needed
  • Collecting rent payments and dealing with queries or charges relating to rent payments
  • Ensuring residents understand their tenant obligations and rights and responsibilities as outlined in the License Agreement
  • Taking payments
  • Providing first aid
  • Responding to fire alarms
  • Being the first point of call for incidents, including emergencies, and liaising with police and other agencies to prevent harm to residents and buildings
  • Crisis management and incident reporting
  • Performing facilities/domestic duties to maintain the building’s upkeep, as needed

You will also support applications from prospective residents, helping with form filling and signposting other agencies who may be able to help them.

Working 23 hours per week across days, evenings and weekends, our shift patterns are:

  • Week 1 – 11am to 11pm
  • Week 2 – 11pm to 11am

We have made sure our shift patterns are fully accessible by public transport no matter what time you start or finish. We have our own weekday Housing Duty Workers, so there is no need for you to work during the week unless you want overtime.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone with or interested in gaining experience working in supported housing with vulnerable adults and young people aged 16-24 years old. We are also happy to provide training and development to start your career in housing. You should understand the needs of young people (aged 16–25) who may have drug, alcohol and other issues, and be confident in dealing with difficult situations and handling conflict appropriately.
