YMCA Robin Hood Group is a not-for-profit charity that runs Residential Care Homes for children aged 5-18 years old. We run 5 homes across Nottingham, Newark, Selby and Goole.
We are ready to welcome new children into our homes and are therefore looking for Night-Time Residential Care Workers to join our overnight team to provide the vital care and support they deserve.
Our 4 bed Selby home is based in YO8 and has parking available - due to the specific location of the home, you would need to drive to the home as you cannot get there by public transport.
If you have experience of working with children before either in a residential care setting or similar but are passionate about working with children, especially those who may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, we’d love to hear from you. You also need to be a natural night-owl and be able to stay awake throughout your shift.
What you’ll do:
- Remain awake overnight ensuring our children are looked after at night-time, ready to support when needed.
- Work as part of a team to ensure the children are looked after 24/7.
- Support the day-time team by creating a safe, loving, nurturing home.
- Provide therapeutic care to help them navigate past trauma.
How we’ll support you:
- A full training plan for your first 6 months.
- Support to complete a fully funded level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare.
- Monthly Supervision and ongoing support from the Management Team.
- Career pathway to promotion.
Our Salary & Benefits:
- £27,030 per annum starting salary
- 40 hours per week across a rota pattern, normally 4 on, 4 off.
- 23 days annual leave rising to 28 days in 5 years plus Bank Holidays.
- NEST Pension
- Westfield Healthcare Plan
- Employee Assistance Programme
- 24/7 GP line
- £500 refer a friend scheme
- Westfield Rewards and Blue Light Card
What You’ll Need:
- Resilience: You won’t give up on a child, even on their toughest days.
- Calm and consistent manner: You’ll use our training to understand and respond to challenging behaviours.
- Compassion: You’ll listen, show up, and help children build trust and secure attachments.
- Confidence: You’ll handle challenges, advocate for children, and be their voice.
- Flexibility: You’ll work a rota of long days, evenings, sleep-ins, and weekends; we plan ahead but value your support when things change.
- A driving license: A full UK licence is essential to get to our home.
- An enhanced DBS with child barred list check; if you aren’t on the update service, we will get you a new DBS.
