YMCA Robin Hood Group is a not-for-profit charity that runs Residential Care Homes for children aged 5-18 years old. We run 5 homes across Nottingham, Newark, Selby and Goole. We are ready to welcome new children into our homes and are therefore looking for Night-Time Residential Care Workers to join our overnight team to provide the vital care and support they deserve. Initially this role will be for a period of 6 months, however this will be reviewed and may present opportunities for a longer fixed term period or a permanent role.

If you have experience of working with children before either in a residential care setting or similar but are passionate about working with children, especially those who may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, we’d love to hear from you. You also need to be a natural night-owl and be able to stay awake throughout your shift.

What you’ll do:

  • Remain awake overnight ensuring our children are looked after at night-time, ready to support when needed.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure the children are looked after 24/7.
  • Support the day-time team by creating a safe, loving, nurturing home.
  • Provide therapeutic care to help them navigate past trauma.

How we’ll support you:

  • A full training plan for your first 6 months.
  • Support to complete a fully funded level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare.
  • Monthly Supervision and ongoing support from the Management Team.
  • Career pathway to promotion.

Our Salary & Benefits:

  • 40 hours per week across a rota pattern, normally 4 on, 4 off.
  • 23 days annual leave rising to 28 days in 5 years plus Bank Holidays.

  • Confidence – You’ll handle challenges, advocate for children, and be their voice.
  • Flexibility – You’ll work a rota of long days, evenings, sleep-ins, and weekends – we plan ahead but value your support when things change.
  • A driving license – A full UK licence is essential to get to our home.
  • An enhanced DBS with child barred list check – if you aren’t on the update service, we will get you a new DBS.
