We are looking for a Casual Facilities Assistant to join our team here at the YMCA Newark and Sherwood Village. This is a really broad role covering all aspects of maintenance, domestic and programme requirements for the Village including the Nursery, Café and Conferencing suite, Gym, Climbing Centre, Dance and Art Studios as well as Business Centre and Education & Training Centre.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Have key holders’ responsibilities for the opening and closing of the facility.
  • Facilitate the setup of equipment for our indoor and outdoor facilities, ensuring all equipment is moved safely and setup as specified.
  • Be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the Village, both inside and outside, including track and infield maintenance, athletics equipment, and pitch sweeps.
  • Assist with all village events.
  • Conduct safety and compliance checks as needed to ensure the Village meets health & safety and operating procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the external village, including clearing walkways, sorting bin store and general grounds maintenance.

As a frontline member of our team, you will be working in the Village alongside our visitors, guests, and other members of YMCA staff. You will be a friendly and approachable member of the team, happy to help in any way you can.

About You: We are looking for someone who has a really broad background of skills who can support across all areas associated with the smooth running of the Village, from helping to set up rooms ready for events, building new play equipment for the nursery to putting up the Christmas Tree. You will enjoy working as part of a team, dividing up all the jobs to be completed that day but able to work on your own too.

We are open to your background as long as you have some experience in facilities maintenance, either in a domestic or commercial setting. Most important to us is your passion and commitment to join our team.
