The predicted salary is between 11.7 - 14.3 £ per hour.

You will be helping to prepare fresh food across a breakfast and lunch menu. We run specials each day which will also need to be cooked to order. You will help prepare sandwiches and other ready to eat options. For events, we tend to offer a wide array of freshly prepared sharing options, both hot and cold, for larger groups and events.

About You

With experience in either café style kitchen or larger restaurant kitchen, you will be comfortable working as part of a small team where team spirit is everything. This will be an excellent opportunity to build on your experience and we are really keen to find someone who enjoys cooking food and preparing meals, taking huge amount of pride in your work. This is a busy role and there will be great variety as part of your role. The addition of the conferencing and events catering will bring new challenges to your daily work as you prepare larger banquets for these events.

Ideally you will have excellent working knowledge of Health and Safety and Food and Drink preparation practices and/or holding NVQ Level 2 Food Preparation or equivalent qualification is desirable. We can support you achieve this qualification if required.

As to be expected with hospitality roles, there will be expectation to work days, evenings and weekends to cover the kitchen opening hours and any events we host; however, we don't expect these to be as demanding as other kitchen environments. We will aim to share our rota ahead of time but there may be the need for cover on short notice to cover sickness or other unplanned absences.

This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check (paid for by YMCA) and registration with the DBS Update Service. We reserve the right to withdraw this role before the closing date should we be able to appoint to the role.
