Do you want to provide fun after‑school sessions for children and young people to join in as part of our after‑school youth programme? We are looking for Casual Membership Activity Leaders to work term time only from our YMCA Community and Activity Village in Newark. Working predominately Monday to Friday, 4 pm to 7 pm with some weekend shifts too, this is the perfect role to fit around your other commitments.

We want to provide a wide range of different activities for children to be able to play the sports they love, have an outlet for their creative ideas and also try out new, interesting activities so we need passionate, enthusiastic people to plan, deliver and lead these sessions. With activities being split into two age groups, you will work with either our 5‑10 year olds or our 11‑17 year olds providing age‑appropriate sessions covering sports, music, arts, drama and STEM – we want to broaden their horizons and give them as much opportunity as possible to thrive.

The Role

You will plan and deliver age‑appropriate sports, arts or STEM based activities, ensuring a safe, friendly, fun and inclusive environment. You will act as a role model and mentor, promoting fair play, sportsmanship and team spirit. You will need to be able to adapt activities to suit different skill levels, from beginner to advanced participants whilst providing positive and constructive feedback to improve children’s confidence and self‑discipline. We want all children to have fun and enjoy their time with the YMCA.

You will need to have some experience of planning and delivering activities to children aged between 5 – 17 years old and ideally, members with disabilities. If you have the skills to engage with children in a range of activities such as games, sport, dance, arts and crafts then we would love to hear from you. We would also love for you to hold a recognised sports/coaching/relevant qualification in your area of expertise. We pride ourselves on providing a safe and engaging learning environment, so an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and policies will be invaluable.

This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check (paid for by YMCA) and registration with the DBS Update Service. We reserve the right to withdraw this role before the closing date should we be able to appoint to the role.
