We are excited to be expanding our Cafe team with the addition of new Casual Cafe & Events Assistants. The cafe is the vibrant heart of our Community & Activity Village where we serve locally sourced food, freshly prepared using seasonal ingredients on-site with a range of hot, cold and alcoholic beverages. We are looking for Casual Café & Events Assistants to support the smooth running of our Community Café and Conferencing space.
Working as part of our team, we would offer you shifts as part of the planned rota, to support large events but also for last minute emergencies to cover sickness, holidays etc. As a member of our Casual team, you would be under no obligation to accept any shifts offered but we would hope that you would be flexible and accommodating to work with us to ensure we have the cover we need to operate to our full potential.
On a day to day basis, you can expect your role to include:
- Working as part of a team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the village café.
- Welcoming visitors in a warm, friendly manner.
- Serving drinks and food products efficiently and politely, including for bespoke events and conference facilities.
- Supporting the Hospitality Team in setting up, setting down and delivering events.
- Promoting a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment.
- Check and maintain stock levels throughout shifts.
- Keep the food and drink storage clean and tidy on shifts.
- Clean and tidy the café, bar and conference areas on shifts, being mindful of COVID safe working practices.
About You
If you are looking to work more flexibly and not be tied down to a specific rota but still looking to work, this could be an ideal role for you! You may have another job but looking for additional hours or looking for work to fit around another commitment such as study or a hobby, we really can explore your availability. Periods such as evening and weekends are likely to be key times.
With previous experience of working in a bar or hospitality environment, you will be customer-centric, always putting the customer first. You will be a friendly person, able to welcome customers and instantly build rapport to make them feel comfortable and at ease. You will have the highest expectations of good customer service and strive every day to do your very best. You will need to be confident to speak with customers and also to communicate clearly and effectively with your team to ensure the smooth running of our venue. As you will be handling cash and other payment, you must be honest and trustworthy. You will enjoy being busy and working in a fast-paced environment. You will thrive under pressure and be able to keep calm and controlled at busy times. From your recent experience, you will have a strong awareness of current food and beverage industry product trends as well as a good working knowledge of Health and Safety and Food and Drink preparation practices.
