Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week working Sunday - Thursday. Working 12:00-8:00pm on Mondays and Thursdays.

Role Overview: The YMCA of Three Rivers is a charitable organization proudly serving the communities of Guelph-Wellington, Stratford-Perth, and Waterloo Region. What you will do:

  • Personal Training (10 - 14 hours per week): Deliver 10-14 hours per week of personal training sessions, providing safe, effective, and engaging programming tailored to individual goals.
  • Group Fitness (2 hours per week): Lead two group fitness classes per week, providing options and modifications to support participants with varying abilities and fitness levels while creating an inclusive and engaging class environment that encourages participation and builds strong member connection.
  • Health Management (4 hours per week): Support the Diabetes Fit program (approximately 4 hours/week), including program delivery, monitoring participant progress, tracking outcomes, and providing proactive support to enhance health outcomes and overall program experience.
  • YMCA Champion & The Y Way (1.5 - 2 hours per week): Support the evaluation, onboarding, and recertification of Personal Trainers in alignment with national standards as a YMCA Champion. Ensure all programs and services are delivered in accordance with YMCA Best Practices to ensure a consistent member experience.
  • Rec Sports & Leagues (16 hours per week): Coordinate the day-to-day operational aspects of the volleyball league, including registration support, game scheduling, and score tracking, to support a well-organized and high-quality program. Support referee administration, including hiring, onboarding, shift scheduling, service quality monitoring, and payroll. Observe and report program and referee-related issues to the Adult Program Supervisor. Support the delivery and growth of additional adult rec sports and leagues (e.g., basketball, pickleball, badminton), including program coordination, participant support, and on-floor presence during key program times.

You will work a Sunday to Thursday schedule, providing consistent presence during peak operational hours including Monday to Thursday evenings from 12:00pm - 8:00pm and Sundays from 8:00am-4:00pm, with flexibility to support program and operational needs.

What you will bring:

  • Personal Training Certification
  • Group Fitness Certification (or willingness to obtain within the first year)
  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C
  • YMCA Champion certification (or willingness to achieve within the first year)
  • Post-secondary education in Recreation and Leisure, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or related field is an asset.

You will bring effective communication skills and a people-first approach that values respect, empathy, and inclusion, enabling you to build strong relationships with staff, members, and community partners. You will bring confidence in delivering personal training and group fitness, including adapting exercises and providing safe modifications for participants of varying abilities and fitness levels. You will bring strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to support and motivate staff, volunteers, and participants. You will bring a proactive, hands-on approach, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead programs and teams effectively. You will bring a commitment to the YMCA's mission and values, a passion for community, and an acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

This role requires regular travel across the region, which may not always be easily accessible through public transit. The employee must be able to arrange their transportation to these sites. A valid G driver's license and full-time vehicle access are strongly recommended.
