What Will You Be Doing?
As the Senior Youth and Community Worker, you will lead the delivery of inclusive programmes across Teesdale. You will be a vital steward of the YMCA mission, ensuring “Youth Voice” shapes everything we do. Your main responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and delivering a varied programme of activities, including centre‑based work at our Community Café and outreach via our mobile bus.
- Building professional relationships with young people and their families to understand community needs.
- Leading and guiding a small team of workers and volunteers, including managing rotas and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Championing the voices of beneficiaries to ensure they influence the design and delivery of our services.
- Ensuring high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and administrative reporting to support the impact of our work.
What Skills and Experience Do You Need?
To be successful in this dynamic and impactful role, it is essential that you have:
- Relevant experience in delivering youth and community work across various settings (face‑to‑face, street‑based, or digital).
- Leadership qualities with the ability to provide day‑to‑day guidance to staff and volunteers.
- A creative and innovative approach to keeping services fresh, relevant, and engaging.
- A flexible approach to working hours, as this role involves 20 hours per week, including evenings and some weekends.
- The ability to travel, including driving the mobile van to various locations across the region to ensure rural accessibility.
