Overview

At YMCA North Tyneside, we deeply believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and our dedicated team works tirelessly to make this a reality for every little one in our care. If you share this enthusiasm for nurturing young minds and creating joyful, enriching early years experiences, we would love to hear from you. Ideally, you will hold an existing Childcare qualification. Crucially, we are looking for dedicated individuals who demonstrate relevant experience and a strong, unwavering commitment to providing high-quality care and education. If you are ready to make a real, positive difference on a flexible basis, this could be your next inspiring role!

Key Responsibilities: Making a Positive Difference

As a vital part of our Nursery team, your focus will be on creating a safe, joyous, and enriching environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Creating a Nurturing Environment

  • Provide a safe, caring, and truly welcoming environment:** Ensure the nursery, both indoors and outdoors, is a stimulating, purposeful, and educational space for children at all times.
  • Deliver inspiring learning: Implement a relevant, play-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that is tailored to each child, supporting their individual progress and celebrating their achievements.
  • Encourage positive growth: Promote independence, self-control, and positive behaviour by warmly and consistently applying our behaviour policy.
  • Promote rights and inclusion: Champion children’s rights, equality, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice in every interaction.

Collaboration and Professional Practice

  • Partner with families: Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers. You will regularly share information about the nursery curriculum, discuss their child’s wonderful progress, and actively encourage parent involvement in their learning journey.
  • Team collaboration: Work alongside colleagues to creatively organise the indoor and outdoor environment, ensuring resources and equipment are appropriate and readily available to meet the specific needs of every child in your group.
  • Stay professional and safe: Understand, uphold, and implement all Nursery and Company policies and procedures, including crucial safeguarding practices (Child Protection), and how to calmly and effectively manage accidents, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Meet quality standards: Help ensure the Nursery consistently meets all requirements set by Ofsted, reflecting our commitment to the highest standard of care.

Planning and Assessment

  • Plan engaging activities: Create exciting and appropriate activities that gently guide each child towards achieving the Early Learning Outcomes.
  • Monitor and celebrate progress: Use a variety of strategies to effectively monitor and evaluate each child’s learning, recognising their milestones and planning their next steps.
  • Maintain accurate records: Ensure all necessary records are kept properly and confidentially, including attendance registers, the accident/incident book, and risk assessments.

Our Shared Mission

Embrace the YMCA mission: Understand, embrace, and actively implement the core mission of our Nursery, which is rooted in supporting young people and their families within the community.
