YMCA North Tyneside is looking for a high energy HR Officer to lead our recruitment, onboarding, and internal culture. This isn’t just a back office role; you will be the driving force behind our front door experience, ensuring we attract the best talent to serve our communities across all our areas. Reporting to the People & Culture Lead, you will bridge the gap between policy and practice, making HR accessible, practical, and values-led for our diverse teams.
What success looks like:
- You’ll lead on all vacancies, drafting engaging adverts and proactively headhunting specialist roles to ensure we hire at pace without compromising on quality or safety.
- You will own the induction experience, ensuring every new starter - whether they work in our nursery, gym, or housing units - feels supported and inspired from day one.
- Success means our People Managers feel coached and confident in handling informal employee relations, guided by the practical how-to resources you create.
- You will be a champion of our core values (serve, thrive, believe, inspire), using data from staff surveys and exit interviews to drive real cultural improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for 10+ active vacancies, including agency management and social media sourcing.
- Design and deliver high-quality inductions that build an immediate sense of belonging across all areas.
- Act as the first point of contact for managers, providing informal coaching on attendance, conduct, and performance.
- Translate technical HR policies into user-friendly guides and lead internal engagement initiatives to identify cultural trends.
- Act as a power user for our HRIS (Ciphr) and provide technical coaching to the HR administrator to ensure data accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience:
- CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma (or equivalent professional experience).
- Proven experience in a recruitment-heavy role and a solid understanding of UK Employment Law.
- Exceptional verbal and written skills, with the ability to persuade and coach staff at all levels.
- A solution-focused, energetic approach with the confidence to constructively challenge barriers to a positive workplace culture.
- Knowledge of Safe Recruitment (DBS) within regulated environments like Ofsted or CQC is highly desirable.
