We are seeking a dedicated and proactive professional to join our team as a Facilities Manager based at our main hub in North Shields. What Will You Be Doing?

As the Facilities Manager, you will lead the strategic and operational management of YMCA North Tyneside’s estate, managing a small team of Maintenance, Caretaking, and Cleaning staff. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Statutory Compliance & Safety: Partnering with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure all buildings (community hubs, retail, and supported accommodation) are fully legally compliant, managing cyclical testing, and leading as the Fire Safety Champion.
  • Maintenance & Projects: Executing annual Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), supervising on‑site contractors, and acting as the technical “Buildings Project Manager” for exciting new renovations and developments.
  • Procurement & Waste Management: Overseeing all site waste streams and leading the tendering, negotiation, and budgetary control for facility service contracts to drive maximum value.

What Skills and Experience Do You Need?

To be successful in this varied and essential role, it is essential that you have:

  • Technical Expertise & Compliance: A strong background in building maintenance/facilities management and proven experience managing compliance within a complex, multi‑site environment.
  • Project & Financial Management: Demonstrated ability to manage small‑to‑medium building projects and experience managing operational budgets and high‑value contracts.
  • Licence & Travel: A valid full driving licence and a willingness to travel between our operational sites (including North Tyneside and Teesdale).

Highly Desirable: An IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH National General Certificate, and prior experience leading operational staff.
