Becoming a trustee of YMCA Norfolk is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference. Our team of trustees bring their skills, experience, and passion to enable YMCA Norfolk to fulfil our mission of transforming young lives. Each trustee brings unique insights enabling them to provide support and scrutiny to steward the work of YMCA Norfolk.
It is an exciting time for YMCA Norfolk as the charity increases both the number of young people we serve and develops new services to fund our work. We have an engaged and supportive team of trustees who have a strong working relationship with the CEO and Executive team. We are looking for a diverse range of people to join our Board. We desire to become more representative of the communities we serve and are actively seeking to involve a broader range of people with different life experiences.
Over the years the skills and qualities we’ve sought in a trustee have been provided by young professionals, senior managers, business owners and people who have retired but are looking to contribute their experience. Applicants will be shortlisted and invited for an interview with the Chair and Chief Executive. Candidates who are successful at interview can attend a Board meeting as an observer before making a final commitment. We reserve the right to close the online vacancy when we are in receipt of sufficient applications. YMCA Norfolk is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Please note the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check prior to starting employment. Written references will be obtained for the successful candidate that will cover the previous 5 years of employment. The successful candidate will be advised that appointment is subject to us obtaining a minimum of two references which are satisfactory to YMCA Norfolk. Character references may be sought where it is not possible to obtain employment references.
