Job Purpose: Responsible for the planning and effective delivery of a variety of health & fitness classes to a diverse membership, including adults, children, and youth. Drive member engagement and retention by fostering positive relationships, supporting onboarding, promoting YMCA programmes, and implementing initiatives that enhance satisfaction and loyalty. Ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the health & fitness centre, including programme delivery, equipment management, and administrative tasks, maintaining efficiency and compliance with all policies and procedures. Champion and promote the YMCA’s Christian Core Values - Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility - in all interactions and activities.

Person Specification:

  • Practical experience of working in a functional fitness gym
  • Practical experience of delivering functional fitness classes or similar to a wide range of members
  • Practical experience of delivering personal training sessions
  • Experience of using social media for marketing and promotion
  • Experience of delivering member engagement and retention initiatives
  • Practical experience of delivering nutrition workshops and/or coaching
  • Practical experience of working with members with disabilities (desirable)
  • Understanding and experience of safe practice in a gym setting
  • Understanding and experience of safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a minimum level 3 Personal Training qualification or equivalent
  • Certificate or qualification in youth fitness delivery
  • Certificate or qualification in disability fitness delivery (desirable)
  • Certificate or qualification in nutrition (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work (if not currently held, qualification must be gained within first 3 months of employment)
