Help young people grow, connect and thrive through gardening. YMCA Leicestershire believes everyone has strengths, talents and the potential to thrive. We are looking for a warm, practical and creative Gardener & Youth Engagement Worker to nurture our Roots to Resilience Garden and other outdoor spaces across our services. You will use gardening as a tool to help young people build confidence, learn new skills and feel a sense of belonging and achievement.
- Lead the ongoing development, care and seasonal planning of the Roots to Resilience Garden and other planters and outdoor spaces.
- Plan seasonal activities and gardening priorities that help the garden flourish year-round.
- Create engaging opportunities for young people to take part in gardening, environmental and wellbeing activities.
- Adapt activities to suit different interests, abilities and support needs.
- Encourage residents, volunteers and staff to get involved and take pride in the space.
- Promote environmentally sustainable, nature-based approaches wherever possible.
- Keep simple records of participation and progress, and share positive stories of impact.
