YMCA Heart of England is a Christian charity providing a range of life-changing services for the local community. With a turnover of over £4m, we house over 300 young people, most of whom previously were homeless, and support them to get their lives back on track. We also care for pre‑school children in our nursery and run various social enterprises to create employment and generate income for our charitable work.

This role will support the weekend running of reception and conference services at the Chris Bryant Centre (CBC) on a Sunday. This role offers a set day each week, with the opportunity to pick up extra hours during busy periods or to cover holidays. Ideal for someone who values a consistent schedule but enjoys flexibility or looking for a work placement opportunity to support an education program.

The reception will act as the main central reception point for all visitors to the YMCA Erdington site. A separate housing reception will remain accessible for residents only. The role combines reception duties, facilities support, and administration. You’ll work closely with YMCA teams, external partners, and members of the public to provide a consistent and welcoming experience for all visitors across the site.

This is a varied and hands‑on role. You’ll need to be organised, approachable and proactive in keeping the building running smoothly while delivering a helpful, friendly service to everyone who walks through the door.

  • 29 days annual leave including Bank Holidays plus an additional day after each year of completed service up to 5 days.
