Every YMCA Nursery has a quality plan, and you will be expected to assist in identifying areas of development to help the nursery achieve and sustain our Ofsted Outstanding grade. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with enthusiasm and dedication to making a difference to be valued and guided by experienced Early Years Practitioners., * Promote a nurturing environment whilst engaging with children of all ages and developmental skills, encouraging each child to meet his/her potential by supporting them through learning and play with positive reinforcement and praise.

  • Support children, co-workers and parents alike; deliver stimulating indoor and outdoor activities; complete and record daily observations for children in your care; and plan their next developmental steps in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

  • Comply with policies and procedures outlined by the setting.

  • Attend training opportunities for personal and professional development as well as the development of the organisation.

  • Assist in ensuring that the Nursery is a safe environment for children.

  • Embrace the variety of each day, use initiative to keep children engaged and support their emotional needs as they arise.

As an Early Years Apprentice, you will be supported to deliver the highest quality of care and education in line with YMCA’s Early Years Curriculum, the "YMCA Way" and Ofsted regulations. Whether you have recently finished GCSEs or College courses, you will inspire children’s development by providing exciting, child-led, play-based activities utilising the outdoors wherever possible., * Willingness to train to achieve Level 2 and/or 3 qualifications in early years and education.

  • Willingness to train to achieve a Paediatric First Aid qualification

  • A genuine enthusiasm for helping children under 5 achieve their potential.

  • A basic understanding of the developmental needs of children.

  • Basic knowledge of health and safety.

  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding good practice.

  • Ability to make activities fun.

  • Ability to communicate with children and parents.

  • Can remain child-focussed in a busy environment.

  • Enjoys being part of a team.
