Job Purpose: To coordinate and deliver an exciting range of Short Breaks activity clubs for children.

Salary: £29,974 – £34,278

Hours of work: 35

Working Pattern: Term time hours: Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday/Sunday 09:00 on a rota basis with one weekend day each week (max 35 weeks). School holidays hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 (min 17 weeks).

Annual leave: Starting allowance – 25 days plus Bank Holidays. Note: School holidays are key delivery periods; annual leave is usually not approved during these times.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deliver structured, enjoyable, recreational activities for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities attending Short Breaks clubs.
  2. Coordinate planning, allocation of places, and staffing to ensure safe club delivery.
  3. Assist in recruitment, training, and ongoing development of the Disability staff team.
  4. Lead and manage a team of Play/Youth Workers and volunteers.
  5. Manage new referrals, initial assessments, individual care plans, and risk assessments to meet individual needs.
  6. Provide staff with advice, coaching, and on-site management of club activities.
  7. Develop strategies and behavioural support plans for participants.
  8. Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements and monitor club standards.
  9. Maintain attendance records and activity budgets.
  10. Promote clubs via social media, manage cohort numbers, and waiting lists.
  11. Administer medication, PEG feeds, and handle movement for children with complex health needs, ensuring proper training.
  12. Collaborate with children, young people, and families to identify suitable activities.
  13. Support young people\’s self-esteem, life skills, and confidence.
  14. Gather feedback from young people to improve future sessions.
  15. Work as part of the delivery team, initiating activities and opportunities locally.
  16. Ensure health and safety, safeguarding policies, and risk assessments are followed.
  17. Manage the venue environment and safety protocols.
  18. Provide information and guidance to parents/carers about local services.
  19. Participate in relevant meetings and forums.
  20. Provide operational cover for other services or locations as needed.
  21. Design and deliver staff training sessions.
  22. Act as Duty Officer at the Sovereign Centre as scheduled.
  23. Perform other duties as reasonably requested by the Disability Services Manager.
