We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Manager to join our team in providing high-quality childcare and early childhood education. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and communicating effectively with both children and parents. This role requires a commitment to fostering a nurturing environment that promotes the development of children in our care.

Duties of the Nursery Manager:

  • Be a positive, professional role model for childcare staff, students and children promoting a calm, caring and reassuring atmosphere in the nursery in which every child feels included, valued and secure and is able to develop to their full potential at their own pace.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and informed advice on all childcare issues to staff, students and volunteers within the nursery taking account of any new legislation and guidance.
  • Effectively manage the day-to-day operation of the nursery including the maintenance of Ofsted staff/child ratios, the deployment of staff to pre-notified rosters.
  • Supervise staff to deliver a varied programme of childcare activities that meet the requirements and principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage, Ofsted and the Nursery’s legal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that observations and assessments inform future planning and that records of children’s development are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Establish and maintain, through supervision and staff training, a safe and hygienic environment for children, staff and visitors in accordance with legal requirements and best practice and Health, Safety and Welfare Policy.
  • Ensure exceptional standards of teaching through planned supervision, monitoring, development, mentoring and clear performance management professional.
  • Track and moderate children’s observations and progress using Tapestry (on-line system) or manual systems to inform the staff, Local Authority, the schools/settings and parents.
  • Complete the Ofsted SEF and a quality assurance scheme such as Bristol Standards.
  • Lead on child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures ensuring that all concerns are dealt with in the correct and timely way and all meetings and procedures are attended where relevant.
  • Ensure that children with Special Educational Needs are fully integrated into the group and have equality of opportunity following the Nursery SEN Policy and procedures.
  • Support parents with parenting skills when needed and ensure parents are fully informed of their child’s needs; referring to other agencies or working in partnership as required.
  • Plan expenditure within the limits of the monthly and annual budgets including staff wages and all other expenditure.
  • Print invoices on a monthly basis for parents and collect fees by the date due.

Qualifications of the Nursery Manager:

  • To hold a full and relevant NVQ3 or above in childcare.
  • Knowledge and experience of quality standard accreditations and working within an environment where these are held.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection principles and practice.
  • Leadership abilities to guide and inspire a team of practitioners.
  • Experience of safeguarding principles and practice.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Location: Lyneham

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £15.46 per hour
