We are looking for a Cleaning Operative to join our Sport and Leisure team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all centre users.
As a Cleaning Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out cleaning duties to the required standards, ensuring the centre remains clean, presentable, and well‑maintained at all times, maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the centre, carrying out room checks and ensuring all areas are clean and ready for use, reporting any hazards, accidents or incidents to the designated management team, and ensuring cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with health and safety requirements. You will maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance, striving to exceed customer expectations through exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Carry out cleaning duties to the required standards.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the centre.
- Carry out room checks and ensure all areas are clean and ready for use.
- Report any hazards, accidents or incidents to the designated management team.
- Ensure cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with health and safety and cleaning product guidelines.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance.
Legal & Safeguarding
The role has a statutory occupational requirement to ensure the safety and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk. The post holder must prioritise safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk and follow both YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policy and the BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership and Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership statutory guidance. Employment is subject to satisfactory references, right‑to‑work checks and a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Where the role involves regulated activity with children or adults at risk, an Enhanced level DBS check is required prior to commencement; otherwise a Basic level DBS check will be conducted.
Qualifications & Skills

- Previous cleaning experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail.

- Knowledge of cleaning products and techniques.
