About the Position

We are looking for a Painter, Decorator and Maintenance Worker to join our team and contribute to the ongoing maintenance and presentation of YMCA Bournemouth’s properties and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being responsible for painting and decorating the interior and exterior of the Association’s premises as required.
  • Assisting with the organisation and administration of maintenance tasks, including keeping accurate records of jobs and updating the Department’s E‑ticket software package.
  • Supporting planned preventative maintenance in line with the Association’s maintenance schedule.
  • Carrying out tiling, carpentry, plumbing and general repairs of a non‑specialist nature.
  • Assisting with statutory tests including legionella checks, fire extinguisher inspections, fire door checks and other periodic compliance tests where required.
  • Helping to maintain a suitably stocked workshop and stores area.
  • Assisting with stock checks and ordering materials when necessary, including electrical stock items, paint, soft furnishings, keys and cleaning supplies.
  • Working within the Building Services department to ensure the YMCA Bournemouth estate is maintained to a high standard, following health and safety procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential: Previous experience in painting and decorating, general maintenance experience, willingness to undertake training as required.
  • Desirable: Painting and decorating qualification, experience working within a commercial or residential maintenance environment.

Additional Information

The role has a statutory, occupational requirement to ensure the safety and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk that they may come across using our services. The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk as a priority and will follow both YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policy and BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership and Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership statutory guidance.

Employment will be subject to satisfactory references, right to work checks and a Disclosure and Barring Service check. If the role involves regulated activity with children or adults at risk, your employment will be subject to an Enhanced level DBS check prior to commencement. All other applicable roles will be subject to a Basic level DBS check prior to commencement.
