This job is for a Night Duty Manager at YHA London Central. It is a permanent, flexible contract offering 24-40 hours per week at £13.13 per hour plus a £1.20 Local Living Allowance (applies to all, including those under the age of 21).

As a Night Duty Manager, you will support the Hostel Manager with the day-to-day management of the hostel, creating a great place for our teams to work and ensuring our guests have a great experience.

What will you be doing as a Night Duty Manager?
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
- Guiding and supporting team members working in all areas of the hostel, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Using our systems for efficient guest check-ins and check-outs, food and beverage sales and service, and other management functions.
- Carrying out housekeeping duties, ensuring a comfortable, clean environment for all visitors.
- Assisting in the preparation of food and serving food and drinks with genuine warmth, hospitality, and pride that will influence more sales.
- Deputising for the Hostel/Deputy Manager, managing the daily hostel operation in their absence.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Night Duty Manager?
Our Duty Managers are responsible for the line management of the teams within their own hostels, along with the management of occasional volunteers. They are also responsible for managing the operational budget and the safeguarding of all guests. To provide this service we are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience of working face-to-face with customers
- Experience in hospitality or customer service, including the management and delivery of a quality service
- Experience of managing a team - experience of leading others, providing guidance to members of your team (desirable)
- Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications (desirable)
- Ability to manage varying pressures, including peaks in workload demands - can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties
- Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) - able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
- Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA - what YHA does and how we do it
