The Spark: Why We Need You
London is one of the most vibrant, fast-paced cities on Earth. Yet underneath the noise, it is facing a quiet crisis. In boroughs like Tower Hamlets, nearly 40% of our neighbours report feeling chronically lonely and isolated. For many, urban isolation is a heavy, daily reality.
We are SUNSHINE, and we are here to smash that isolation with pure, unadulterated, radical positivity! We don't do boring, clinical forms or awkward networking. Instead, we take over inner London’s public and unused spaces with high-vibrancy pop-ups—bringing bright neon t-shirts, upbeat music, handmade positive quote cards, and literal bubble machines directly to the pavement to turn strangers into neighbours.
Your Mission: What You’ll Do
- Host the WhatsApp Hub: Manage our private, announcement-only WhatsApp Community chat—dropping in weekly positive vibes, countdown timers, and event coordinates.
- Welcome New Faces: Act as the first friendly digital handshake. When a lonely or anxious resident reaches out on social media or email, you will send a warm template message making them feel completely safe to show up.
- Lead the Pavement Socials: Coordinate our 2-hour pop-ups in the inner London area. You will ensure the music is playing, the bubble machines are full, and our frontline "Joy Catalysts" are ready to mingle.
- Cultivate Belonging: Keep an eye out for anyone standing on the edge of the crowd at our pop-ups, welcoming them into a low-pressure conversation and handing them a quote card.
Who You Are (The Perfect Fit)
- A Natural Welcomer: You have an incredibly warm, bubbly digital and physical presence. You are the kind of person who instantly makes strangers feel at ease.
- An Empathetic Listener: You understand that stepping out to overcome loneliness takes serious courage. You lead with validation, zero judgment, and kindness.
- A Smartphone Native: You use WhatsApp and Instagram like a pro, and you know how to write text that feels urgent, friendly, and deeply encouraging.
- Reliable & Proactive: You are comfortable coordinating small groups of 3-4 frontline volunteers on an afternoon and keeping the energy high.
Why Lead With Us?
- Direct Human Impact: You will literally see the fruit of your labour in real-time. You will watch anxious faces turn into smiling ones as people find their tribe.
- CV-Boosting Leadership: Leading community management and frontline operations for a fast-scaling London movement is an incredibly high-utility asset for any career.
- A Safe, Supportive Squad: You will be backed by a brilliant, dedicated Founding Committee handling the logistics, finance, and marketing behind the scenes.
- Pure Joy: You get to spend your afternoons surrounded by floating bubbles, uplifting music, and people who genuinely want to make the city a brighter place.
