This is a high-impact commercial buying role where you won't just be managing a category—you'll be shaping it. We're looking for a driven Senior Fresh Fish Buyer to take ownership of a £10m+ seafood spend within a fast-paced, fresh food business. You'll lead the sourcing, negotiation and supply of high-quality fresh fish and seafood, ensuring the business stays ahead on availability, margin, quality and market movement.
This is a role for someone who knows the fish trade, understands volatility and thrives on making fast, commercially sound decisions that directly influence profitability. You'll manage supplier relationships across UK and international markets, negotiate at pace and stay close to daily market shifts to secure the right product at the right time and price. Alongside this, you'll lead and develop a small team of two, building structure, accountability and consistency in a category where precision matters.
Working closely with the Commercial Director, you'll have real visibility and influence—providing insight on margin, stock risk, availability and supplier performance that shapes wider commercial strategy. This is not a desk-only buying role. It's hands-on, fast-moving and commercially critical—where strong buying decisions directly impact business performance every single day.
What's on offer:
- £50,000 – £55,000 salary
- Staff product discount
- Health & Wellbeing Programme

- Monday-Friday working (with early starts during key trading periods)
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience buying fresh fish or seafood
- Strong supplier negotiation and commercial buying background
- Team leadership experience
- Confidence managing significant spend and margin responsibility
- Strong understanding of availability, pricing, waste and market movement
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving, high-pressure fresh food environment
If you're commercially sharp, comfortable in a market-driven buying environment and ready to take ownership of a category that genuinely matters to business performance, this is the opportunity to step into. To be considered for this position, please send us your CV ASAP by applying to this advert.
