CNC Lathe Setter/Operator Permanent Days – 4 day week – 6am to 4:15pm Monday to Thursday Northampton The Role We are looking for a skilled CNC Lathe Setter / Operator to join a busy and growing precision engineering environment. You will be working within a CNC lathe department alongside a supportive team including Team Leader, Senior Setter, Setters and Operators. You will also work closely with Inspection, Milling, Welding and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth production flow and high quality output. This is a hands-on role focused on setting, proving out and optimising Fanuc controlled Doosan CNC lathes to ensure safe accurate and efficient manufacture of precision engineered components. Key Responsibilities * Set CNC lathe machines ready for production in line with drawings route cards and job requirements including correct oils and coolant * Set tooling and work holding including chuck collet and fixture setups * Prove out programmes and make authorised adjustments to achieve correct first offs * Adjust offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy following inspection feedback * Support operators during production runs when required * Operate CNC lathes safely and efficiently to maintain output * Carry out in-process inspection checks using precision measuring equipment * Monitor component quality and machine performance * Replace worn tooling and report machine faults to reduce scrap and downtime * Maintain a clean and organised working area including swarf removal * Support continuous improvement activity across the department * Take part in training and ongoing skill development * Carry out other reasonable duties in line with production needs What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing accurate work and maintaining high standards on the shop floor. You will need strong experience in CNC lathe setting and a solid understanding of machining processes tooling and quality control. You will ideally have experience with sliding head machines or 2 axis Fanuc controlled Doosan CNC Lathes. A proactive attitude is important along with the ability to work well within a team and support others when needed.
