Postdoctoral Researcher (JC Cool Think Junior)

JC Cool Think Junior develops computational thinking among P1 to P3 students across 200 primary schools in Hong Kong and seven community CT hubs over Y0 to Y4 (Jun 2026 to Aug 2030), led by YCCECE for HKJCCT, with project partners City UHK and ACTi CT.

The Postdoctoral Researcher leads the research and evaluation work of Cool Think Junior in partnership with the Project Director and the Ed UHK evaluation team, ensuring rigorous design, execution, analysis, and reporting across the project.

  • Job Responsibilities
  • Provide research support to the Project Director across the design, execution, and reporting of the research components.
  • Serve as the primary YCCECE liaison with the Ed UHK evaluation team, coordinating data collection, instrument administration, and results interpretation.
  • Support the phased stepped-wedge cluster randomised trial, including management of the five measurement points (T0 to T4).
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data from student assessments, teacher surveys (CT-TPACK, STEBI-A), and hub evaluations.
  • Draft interim evaluation reports, conference papers, and journal manuscripts with the Project Director.
  • Contribute to hub evaluation instrument design and ensure compliance with ethics and data protection requirements.
  • Job Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (Ph D or Ed D) in Education, Psychology, Computer Science Education, or a closely related field, awarded within the past 5 years.
  • Demonstrated research skills in quantitative methods, including mixed-effects models, cluster randomised trial designs, or comparable methodologies; peer‑reviewed publication record.
  • Leads design, analysis, and reporting of the project evaluation.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e. g. R, SPSS, or Stata).
  • Experience with educational assessment design and psychometric analysis preferred.

Initial appointment will normally be made on a renewable 24+ months contract. Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience.
