The assistant manager, data analytics will report to the Assistant Registrar(s) and play a critical role in leveraging data science technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and support strategic decision-making. This position focuses on ensuring data accuracy, strengthening quality assurance (QA) mechanisms, and providing actionable insights to drive student success and the college’s long-term development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of data mining and analytics to define college-specific metrics and key success indicators and assess data quality to improve future reporting.
  • Create a self-service reporting infrastructure regulated by the Registry to support various needs of college analytics.
  • Enhance the performance and stability of data analysis and integration solutions across departments in the college.
  • Analyze data to solve complex problems, predict future trends, and enable stakeholders to manage data and performance more effectively.
  • Design, implement and improve QA mechanisms such as various surveys for students, lecturers, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and streamline the data collection and cleansing processes for student information, academic results, survey statistics, etc.
  • Compile and standardize statistical reports to support institutional planning and compliance requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably a higher degree) in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or have an equivalent qualification, with at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the higher education sector.
  • Demonstrate expertise in data integration, transformation, analytics, and reporting, with proficiency in SQL and Python and advanced skills in Excel and data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Hold certifications in data analytics tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with the capability to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze and synthesize student-based data.
  • Display a proactive attitude, strong service and results orientation, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently while embracing new technologies.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

Initial appointment will normally be made on a renewable 24+ months contract. Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The college offers group medical insurance and dental, staff development support and leave provisions (annual leave, birthday leave, college leave, etc) to eligible appointee. Appointee will undergo a medical examination and a sexual conviction record check. Personal data collected will be used for recruitment-related purposes only.
