Description:
Golf Operations Manager, Pannal Golf Club
Pannal Golf Club is looking for an outstanding Golf Operations Manager - someone who takes genuine pride in running golf operations to the highest standard and sees the member experience as their personal responsibility.
This is a senior role within a financially secure, ambitious club with a clear strategic vision, an engaged Board and a dedicated team. The Golf Operations Manager deputises for the General Manager and plays a pivotal part in the day-to-day life of the Club.
What sets Pannal apart
- A distinguished heathland course of genuine standing within Yorkshire golf, founded in 1906.
- Awarded the Silver Flag at the 59club UK & Ireland Service Excellence Awards 2026 - in only our second year of association.
- An active, multi-year Course Development Plan, supported by an advisory relationship with The R&A through their Sustainable Agronomy Service.
- A clear Strategic Plan, a financially stable Club, and a supportive Board - a strong platform to build on, not a turnaround.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day golf operations, competitions and major Club events from planning through to delivery.
- Produce and manage tee sheets, competition start sheets and weekly Club itineraries, keeping all systems and communications up to date.
- Co-ordinate all aspects of visitor and society golf - from initial enquiry through to post-visit follow-up - delivering an experience that reflects the Club's 59club standards.
- Meet and greet societies on arrival, ensuring their needs are met throughout the day.
- Maximise visitor and society revenue through proactive sales, relationship management and promotion of available tee times.
- Oversee member communications, competition schedules, ClubV1 administration and the Club diary.
- Support marketing, social media and promotional activities to promote the Club and its members' achievements.
- Work closely with the General Manager, Board, sub-committees and department managers to ensure outstanding service and continuous improvement.
- Deputise for the General Manager as required.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience in a golf, hospitality, leisure or customer-focused environment, ideally within a private members' club.
- Strong organisational skills and proven ability to manage multiple events and priorities without losing attention to detail.
- Commercial awareness with a focus on growing visitor and society income.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - warm, professional and confident with members, guests and external partners.
- Customer-focused, proactive and passionate about golf.
- Proficiency in golf management systems including BRS, ClubV1 and Golf Genius; working knowledge of WHS.
- Knowledge of England Golf regulations and experience in competition administration.
- Experience of marketing, social media management and club promotion.
What Pannal Offers
- Competitive salary ranging from £28k - £33k depending on experience, plus pension.
- 25 days' holiday plus 8 statutory bank holidays.
- 50% off golf membership.
- Free staff meals on duty.
- Free membership of GCMA & CMAE (the leading professional bodies for golf and club managers).
- Professional development opportunities within an ambitious, award-winning club.
- A collaborative working environment and the opportunity to play a key role in the future success of a prestigious, financially secure club.
