EXPERIENCED GREENKEEPER
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining high quality playing surfaces, has a strong work ethic and enjoys working as part of a professional team. You will play an important role in assisting the development of the golf course and associated areas to a consistently high standard.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- SVQ/NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Sports Turf Management
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 Qualification in Safe Use/Application of Pesticides
- Driving License
- Experience operating a broad range of golf course machinery
- A sound understanding of natural turf requirements and Golf Course presentation
- A strong commitment to Health and Safety
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confident working independently and able to apply initiative when required
- A positive reliable professional approach with a can do attitude
- Applicants who do not hold requested qualifications, but can demonstrate strong relevant experience and a willingness to develop are also encouraged to apply
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing and maintaining greens, tees, fairways, roughs and practice areas
- Weekend support on a rota basis. Overtime payments will apply in this instance
- Mowing and presenting playing surfaces to consistently high standards
- Course set up including, hole changing, tee set up and daily inspections
- Bunker preparation, turf work, divot filling and general maintenance
- Safely operating and maintaining a range of modern golf course machinery
- Application of plant protection products/ turf treatments and nutritional inputs as required
- Supporting irrigation, drainage and water management operations
- Recording agronomic, environmental and performance data
- Maintaining The Merchants of Edinburgh distinct characteristics and playing qualities
