Description:

Founded in 1994, Cumberwell Park is a friendly family‑run business located in the Wiltshire countryside, just 15 minutes from Bath. The course comprises 54 holes, a driving range and short‑game area.

The Course Projects Assistant supports golf‑course construction, renovation and routine maintenance in close collaboration with the Course Manager and Deputy Course Manager. Responsibilities include operating specialist equipment, maintaining irrigation systems and contributing to high‑quality playing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the golf courses and grounds as directed, including mowing, aeration, fertiliser application, spraying, divoting, bunker maintenance, top‑dressing, changing holes and moving tee‑markers.
  • Drive a tractor for operations such as gravel banding and trailer transport.
  • Operate an excavator to a competent level for construction projects.
  • Assist in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of the course irrigation system.
  • Carry out construction projects involving the renovation of bunkers, paths, teeing areas and drainage.
  • Participate in construction projects on new golf‑course developments.
  • Transport personnel, materials and equipment using buggies and turf trucks.
  • Keep the greenkeepers’ shed tidy and safe; return cleaned equipment to its designated shed.
  • Respond to emergencies, including fire and chemical spills, using emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers) and calling for assistance.
  • Report course issues such as disease in greens, water problems or health & safety concerns.
  • Carry out any other tasks directed by the Course Manager or other management board members.

Candidate Attributes

  • Experience with sportturf, construction machinery and irrigation systems.
  • Highly self‑motivated with a strong and flexible work ethic.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce and maintain high standards of work on the golf course.
  • Capacity to work well within a team.
  • References from previous employers upon request.

Working Hours and Contact

40‑hour week, including weekend work on a rota basis.
