Role Description

This is a full-time Architect / Technician role based on-site in Edinburgh.

The role involves supporting the design and delivery of architectural projects from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.

Daily tasks include producing technical drawings and specifications, coordinating with project managers and other team members, and contributing to design development and value engineering.

The Architect / Technician will assist in integrating new technologies and systems into project workflows, support compliance with regulations and standards, and participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.

The role also includes maintaining accurate project records, tracking progress against programme and budget, and contributing to continuous improvement of studio processes.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Architecture and Architectural Design, with the ability to translate concepts into clear, buildable solutions.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Project Management, including coordination, scheduling, and monitoring progress against programme and budget.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Software Development and Integration as they relate to architectural workflows, such as implementing and integrating digital tools and platforms.
  • Candidates should have proficiency in relevant design and drafting software (e. g., Auto CAD, Revit, BIM tools) and strong technical drawing and detailing abilities.
  • Candidates should have knowledge of UK building regulations, planning processes, and construction methods, ideally within the Scottish context.
  • Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients and consultants.
  • Candidates should preferably hold a relevant architectural or technical qualification (e. g., degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology) and have experience in a professional practice environment.
  • Candidates should show a proactive approach, attention to detail, and an interest in continuous learning and adoption of new technologies and best practices.
