Yeo Valley is not just a dairy manufacturing company; we are the manufacturing company that produces over 25% of the UK's packaged yoghurt, known for our commitment to organic farming, sustainability, and animal welfare. We are looking for a Technical Operator to join our Nights team at Newton Abbot. This role will be 4 nights on, 4 nights off, working from 18:00 to 6:00.
As the Technical Operator, you will utilise your operational and mechanical skills and knowledge, being the go-to person for all in the team that need support with complex operational processes, optimising complex machines, or identifying the root cause of underlying problems. Through the undertaking of maintenance tasks, validation checks, and optimisation of the machines, you will ensure the team can meet their daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with optimal utilisation of our assets and raw materials.
Your responsibilities:
- Undertake routine checks to validate and maintain equipment safety control systems to maintain statutory compliance.
- Escalate any food safety breach or quality issue and ensure that any product below our standards is identified and held, with issues escalated appropriately, resolved, and released.
- Active involvement, commitment, and governance of the quality management system, ensuring all relevant controls and procedures are completed effectively to validate food safety controls and exceed customer and consumer expectations.
- Understand, adhere to, and lead good manufacturing practices and company standards of hygiene, PPE, and dress code.
- Role model a 'Clean as You Go' approach, leading workplace organisation and visual management standards with the team.
- Effective operation and optimisation of equipment and priorities to meet production demand and deliver the highest quality products.
- Undertake advanced/complex fault finding, decision making, and rectification on equipment, leading the identification of root cause and escalating to engineering when required.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cared for by completing effective cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Work across the team and conduct effective handovers to understand common challenges and opportunities, seeking to identify where investigations may help most.
- Energise the team and demonstrate a consistently enthusiastic approach, taking action quickly and encouraging others to do the same.
