As a Senior Supplier Technologist, you'll be pivotal in building and maintaining strong relationships with our raw material suppliers. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team, ensuring right first‑time quality of raw material supply into our manufacturing sites.
As part of this team, your focus will be to manage a supplier portfolio, ensuring effective supplier management and raw material quality. Leading and driving effective supplier relationships and building effective supplier management and raw material plans. Working collaboratively, with your job share co‑owner and co‑owners in procurement, NPD and site manufacturing teams. Ensuring our suppliers meet business and customer requirements. Leading and driving continuous improvement in our supply base.
We’re independent, British and proud to be making the highest quality yogurts, desserts and ice cream under the Yeo Valley brand and for many of the UK’s major retailers. Operating from four dairies and two logistics centres in Somerset and Devon, we employ over 1900 staff and produce more than 25% of the UK’s packaged yogurt.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing a portfolio of raw materials and suppliers
- Effective management through risk assessment and performance
- Evaluate and approve potential and new suppliers in your category
- Work cross‑functionally to drive cost out across our suppliers
- Work with procurement and development to ensure appropriate suppliers / ingredients available to support innovation and business continuity needs
- Ensure supplier specifications are accurate and include all appropriate characteristics necessary to enable right first‑time quality for operations
This role is part of a job share and the working hours are 2 days a week (16 hours per week) of which specific fixed days are to be agreed. The role is based at our Blagdon HQ offices.
Key Qualifications
- Experience in Quality & Food Safety management
- Supplier management experience
- Strong people and communication skills
- Effective networking and influencing skillsAbility to operate effectively at all levels across the business
- Great at building relationships internally and externally
Preferable Qualifications
- You have a science degree or similar degree
- You have audit/lead auditor experience
- You have HACCP level 4
