Overview
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Lead Operator to join our Packing & Stores team within the Dairy department at Yeo Valley Crewkerne.
This role is a 4 on, 4 off day shift, working 6:00am – 6:00pm.
As a Lead Operator, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the Packing & Stores area, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
You will lead by example, provide guidance and support to the team, help coordinate daily activities, and work closely with colleagues to achieve performance targets while driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Energises the team and demonstrates a consistently enthusiastic approach, taking action quickly and encouraging others to do the same.
- Demonstrates a commitment to health and safety by working in a safe manner, role modelling safety behaviours, challenging unsafe practices, rectifying unsafe conditions and escalating as needed.
- Understands, leads and maintains good manufacturing practices and company standards of hygiene, PPE, and dress code.
- Models a "Clean as You Go" approach, leading workplace organisation and visual management standards with the team.
- Involves the team in changeover optimisation, identifying opportunities and coordinating resources to improve asset utilisation.
- Communicates and shares performance data to ensure the team understands how their role contributes to shift, site and business success.
- Performs basic fault finding and rectification on equipment and supports root cause identification when escalating to the wider support team.
- Ensures equipment is properly cared for through validated cleaning tasks and adherence to schedules.
- Collaborates to initiate and implement improvement activities within the team and across shifts.
- Works across the team to ensure effective handovers and identify common challenges and opportunities for investigations.
