Yellow Submarine is an award-winning Oxfordshire charity dedicated to supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism, empowering them to live fulfilling lives. The organization provides programs for young people aged 11 and older, focusing on building life skills, social confidence, independence, and employability. Yellow Submarine also supports families and carers by offering respite services. Recognized for its impactful work, the charity has received numerous awards, including the Guardian Charity Award and the Oxfordshire Charity and Community Award.

We are looking for someone to join the existing team to help run all day-to-day operations of our busy café, whilst also providing support with on-site supervision to our trainees. This role will involve customer service, food and drink preparation, general café tasks, and additionally supporting and mentoring our trainees with learning disabilities and autism, within the café. The successful applicant is proactive, can work flexibly and efficiently, as well as having a calm and compassionate nature. A sense of fun is a must!

Pay Band: From £12.70 - £13.50 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Full time 32 - 40 hours per week. Weekday shifts during café open hours: Monday - Friday, 07:00 - 17:00. Occasional work at weekends, for events and training may be required.

Location: Roles available in both our Witney and Oxford cafés

Key Duties:

  • Food/ drinks preparation
  • Opening + closing the café
  • Delivering training activities one-to-one to our trainees during their café shifts
  • Monitor, guide and support our trainees to achieve independence at multiple areas of café work
  • Maintaining 5* food hygiene standards
  • Completing necessary records
  • Completing level 2 food safety training
