Yellow 42 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an assistant manager for a 5 star hotel in Ayrshire for their fine dining outlet. This role would suit someone who is ready to step up from being a supervisor or an assistant manager in a smaller establishment, ready to make the move.

What you need to demonstrate:

  • Able to manage multiple outlets and a large number of staff.
  • Effectively manage distribution of workload amongst self and direct reports.
  • Respond appropriately to guest needs during hours of operation.
  • Lead the team by setting a positive example.
  • Monitor employees to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Conduct appraisals in line with guidance given from the F&B Services Manager in line with completion dates.
  • Lead the team by creating an environment in which direct reports can take responsibility and authority for their own work and development.
  • In conjunction with the F&B Services Manager, develop and implement training programmes for departments.
  • Lead the team by communicating effectively.
  • Display an understanding of the impact that menu choice has on productivity and profitability.
  • Initiate and maintain timely recording of and follow-up of all bookings.
  • Conduct performance reviews with direct reports as necessary on a timely basis.
  • Provide creative methods for improving customer service.
  • Continuously review and improve internal operations methods in own department and suggest to other departments how they might assist in general improvements through appropriate forum.
  • Generate new ideas for service and products that will maintain a competitive and leading edge over our competitors.

Who you are:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
  • Previous experience of working in luxury hotel environment at Senior Head Waiter or Assistant Outlet Manager Level or above is essential.
  • Degree/HND or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to analyse financial information and prepare budget and outlet goals and to monitor and control payroll and other costs preferred.
  • Must be resourceful, creative and maintain flexibility.
  • Be able to lead a team by creating the right example, training, motivating and mentoring to achieve desired ends.
  • Comprehensive computer skills preferred.
  • Intermediate or Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate desirable.
  • Personal License Holder desirable.
