The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organization's mission and philosophy.
Qualifications- Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent
- Experience in long term care setting an asset
- Current CPR Certificate
- Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred
- Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
- Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
- Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset
- Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office). Basic knowledge of Workday an asset
- Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset
Working Conditions:
- Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending
- Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact
- Ability to work mixed shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and short shifts. May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices
Successful applicants must provide a recent satisfactory vulnerable sector police reference check and medical clearance certificate.
