Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors’ apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivery of meals, portioning and serving dessert
- Dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing of cooking equipment, pots, pans and small dishware
- General and special cleaning in the kitchen in accordance with government and organization policies and standards
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of, or currently enrolled in a recognized Food Service Worker Program
- Current Food Handler Safety Certificate
- Some experience in food services industry
- Ability to lift heavy industrial size food trays, pots and pans
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English; ability to communicate in Chinese is an asset
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending
- Exposure to all resident care elements through occasional resident contact
- Occasional shift work, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
- Exposed to noise, high temperature and moisture while working in the dish room and pot washing areas
