The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors’ apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.
The Executive Director plays a pivotal leadership role in delivering on the organization’s People Plan, operational strategy, and commitment to high-quality, person-centred care. Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Executive Director is accountable for the overall leadership, performance, and successful opening of our new long-term care home in Scarborough. This role is responsible for translating strategy into execution; ensuring workforce readiness, operational excellence, and a strong, values-driven culture grounded in WE CARE, WE COMMIT, and WE COLLABORATE from day one.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Executive Director leads interdisciplinary teams across clinical and non-clinical functions, driving outcomes in quality of care, team engagement, operational consistency, and financial stewardship. The role fosters a culture of compassion, inclusion, and respect (WE CARE), ensures accountability for results and continuous improvement (WE COMMIT), and builds strong partnerships across teams, residents, families, and the community (WE COLLABORATE). This role is instrumental in ensuring the home opens successfully with the right people, systems, and community partnerships in place, and is positioned for long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Strategic & Operational Execution
- Translate strategic priorities into operational plans that deliver measurable outcomes in care quality, workforce stability, and resident experience.
- Ensure full operational readiness for home opening, including staffing, systems, policies, and workflows.
- Drive performance through clear goals, metrics, and accountability frameworks.
- Drive Quality of Care & Compliance
- Champion person-centred care and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Monitor and improve key indicators related to quality, safety, and resident outcomes.
- Build & Lead High-Performing Teams
- Attract, develop, and retain a strong, engaged workforce aligned to values and care standards.
- Foster a psychologically safe, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
- Build leadership capability and succession strength across the home.
- Enable Workforce & People Strategy
- Partner with People & Culture to implement workforce strategies aligned with recruitment, retention, and engagement priorities.
- Support effective labour relations practices within a unionized environment.
- Champion employee experience initiatives that improve stability and engagement.
- Ensure Financial & Operational Stewardship
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure financial sustainability.
- Optimize staffing models, scheduling, and operational processes to drive efficiency and consistency.
- Monitor performance and take corrective action to achieve operational targets.
- Strengthen Resident & Family Experience
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, and councils.
- Ensure feedback is actively incorporated into care planning and service improvements.
- Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and meaningful engagement.
- Lead Partnerships & Community Engagement
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, and stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in external forums, strengthening reputation and integration within the community.
- Support Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Champion new models of care, technology, and best practices.
- Drive innovation that enhances resident outcomes and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in long-term care, healthcare, or social services.
- Demonstrated success in leading operations, workforce strategy, and team development in complex environments.
- Completion of, or enrollment in, a recognized Long-Term Care Administrator Certification Program (as required under applicable legislation).
- Strong knowledge of long-term care legislation, regulatory frameworks, and quality standards.
- Proven ability to lead through change, build culture, and deliver results.
