Your Mission
As our Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be a key part of building and scaling our Engineering function from the ground up. This is a brand-new role in a fast-paced, startup environment - ideal for someone hands-on, solutions-focused, and eager to make their mark. You’ll work on everything from day-to-day reactive fixes to designing preventative maintenance routines that help reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability. You’ll be trusted to spec and shape your own workspace, source tools and parts, and help define how our machinery evolves as we grow. This role sits at the heart of production and reports to our Engineering Manager. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams like Operations, QA, and Technical, responding to real-time line issues while also contributing to long-term projects like automation and new equipment commissioning. It’s a hands-on role with real variety - split roughly 60/40 or 50/50 between mechanical and electrical work, depending on your background. If you're someone who loves to “tinker” and thrive on improving how things run, you’ll fit right in.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues across a range of equipment
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery
- Maintain accurate logs of maintenance, repairs, and improvements
- Work across systems like conveyors, chillers, weighers, mixers, and packaging equipment
- Minimise unplanned downtime with fast, effective problem-solving
- Ensure safe working practices and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects across performance and reliability
- Provide informal support or mentoring to junior team members or apprentices
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in a multiskilled engineering role in food, FMCG, or manufacturing
- Comfortable with both mechanical and electrical disciplines
- Skilled in fault-finding, repair, and maintaining production machinery
- Understanding of PLC-controlled systems, sensors, VFDs, and wiring
- Some hands-on experience with welding, fabrication, or modification of machinery
- Calm under pressure with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Knowledge of health & safety and food hygiene standards
- Collaborative and clear communicator - great with documentation and working cross-functionally
- Flexibility - some occasional weekend or evening work may be required depending on project requirements
