Your Mission

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our Finance & Administration team, reporting directly to the Bookkeeper. As a key member of the finance function, you will support the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business, working closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, records are maintained to a high standard, and deadlines are consistently met. This is a hands‑on role that offers the opportunity to make a real impact. You will play an important part in strengthening our financial processes, supporting the smooth running of the business, and contributing to continuous improvements across our finance function. Working collaboratively across departments, you’ll help provide the accurate financial information needed to support business decisions while ensuring our finance operations remain efficient, compliant, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Raise and process customer invoices.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable ledgers.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Process employee expenses and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Support month‑end close activities, including reconciliations and journal postings.
  • Assist with credit control and customer account management.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Support the wider Finance team with ad‑hoc financial administration.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) experience.
  • Invoice processing and statement reconciliations.
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations.

Core Skills

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or a similar ERP system.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, scaling or start‑up business.
