Your Mission

As our Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be joining a small, ambitious engineering team at a fast‑growing food business – getting hands‑on with a wide range of production equipment and building your skills in a place that genuinely invests in its people. This is a great role for someone who has built solid foundations in mechanical maintenance and wants to develop further: working alongside experienced engineers, learning new systems, and taking real ownership of your work from day one. You’ll be responding to live breakdowns, running PPM schedules, and supporting improvement and installation projects as we grow. Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery
  • Respond to reactive breakdowns and carry out first‑line fault diagnosis and repair
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and PPM completion
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures
  • Assist with continuous improvement and equipment modification projects
  • Keep workshop and spares organised and well‑stocked
  • Build relationships with Production to support fast resolution of line issues
  • Develop knowledge of PLC‑controlled systems and automation under guidance
  • Escalate complex faults clearly to senior engineers

Requirements – What You’ll Bring

  • Mechanical engineering background with some electrical knowledge – motors, VFDs, solenoids, 3‑phase
  • Experience or exposure to PPM routines in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Basic fault‑finding skills on production machinery – packaging, conveyors, mixers, or similar
  • Awareness of food safety and H&S standards
  • Reliable, detail‑oriented, and takes ownership of your work
  • Calm under pressure with a practical, get‑it‑done attitude
  • Good communicator – keeps people informed and documents work clearly
  • Eager to learn and develop, including PLC and automation systems over time
  • Flexibility – some evening and weekend work may be required depending on project requirements
