Job Summary: Our client is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support their growing network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot network components to ensure the highest levels of performance and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement new network solutions and improve the efficiency of current networks.
- Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP.
- Maximise network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Arrange scheduled upgrades and investigate faults in the network.
- Configure firewall rules and ensure network security to protect systems and data.
- Support and administer third-party network appliances such as load balancers and VPNs.
- Provide network configuration support and technical guidance.
- Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, procedures, and changes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of networking hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Solid understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
- Familiarity with Quality of Service (QoS) configuration and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of network security practices and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with wireless networking and cloud networking solutions.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for network automation.
- Certification in networking (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or Juniper JNCIS).
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, HyperβV).
