Assist in food preparation and cooking according to recipes and standards.

Support the Chef de Partie in running a specific kitchen section.

Ensure quality, presentation, and consistency of dishes.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards (food safety, storage, labeling).

Help with stock control and report shortages.

Prepare ingredients (cutting, marinating, portioning).

Work efficiently during busy service periods.

Support and guide commis chefs or junior staff.

Follow instructions from senior chefs (Sous Chef / Head Chef).

Skills Required:

  • Basic to intermediate cooking skills (grill, sauté, prep, etc.)
  • Good time management & organisation
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Strong teamwork and communication
  • Knowledge of food hygiene & safety
  • Attention to detail in plating and taste
  • 1-3 years kitchen experience (often as a Commis Chef)
  • Culinary training (preferred but not always required)
  • Food safety certification (Level 2 often expected in the UK, if not could be provide the training for it.)
