Position
Apprentice Installation Engineer – Fire. Field‑based role covering the Dorset area, with travel required to Chichester and Reading.
Overview
The role focuses on the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire detection, fire alarm, fire panel and other fire safety equipment. Apprentices also learn about security alarms, CCTV and access control systems, gaining a mix of college learning and hands‑on mentoring at Banham Academy.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission and maintain electronic fire safety systems.
- Work with intrusion detection, CCTV and access control solutions.
- Visit a variety of sites – residential, commercial and retail – travelling and staying overnight as required.
- Collaborate with a dedicated team to develop skills leading to qualification as a fire and security engineer.
Training
Banham Academy: Level 3 Fire Emergency & Security Systems Technician – a block‑format program combining college learning and practical mentoring.
Qualifications & Requirements
- GCSE English and Maths – Grade5 (C) or above.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Comfortable working at heights and in all weather conditions.
- Good physical health – the job can be labour‑intensive at times.
- Willingness to travel, work away and stay overnight in hotels when necessary.
- Team spirit, hard work, communication skills and a passion for technology and engineering.
