Within Johnson Controls, we are seeking a Programme Manager to join our High Security & Projects Group (HSPG), responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex, multi-site security and infrastructure programmes across the UK. This role is critical in ensuring commercially sound, contractually compliant, and operationally excellent delivery, working closely with Sales, Design, Commercial, and Delivery teams. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in NEC3 / NEC4 / NEC5 and JCT contracts, combined with robust programme planning capability using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Leadership – Lead end-to-end delivery of multiple projects within a programme, ensuring alignment to customer objectives, commercial targets, and operational performance. Provide clear governance, structure, and reporting across all programme activities. Act as the senior point of contact for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Commercial & Contract Management – Apply strong working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 / NEC5 and JCT contracts to manage project delivery in line with contractual obligations. Support and challenge commercial teams on:
- Compensation events / variations
- Early warning notices
- Change control processes
- Contractual risk and entitlement
- Ensure all programme activity aligns with contractual positions, protecting margin and mitigating risk. Work closely with QS and Commercial teams to manage cost, value, and risk across the lifecycle.
- Planning & Programme Controls – Develop, manage, and maintain detailed programme plans using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. Monitor programme performance against key milestones, identifying risks, delays, and recovery actions. Ensure robust planning discipline across all projects, including:
- Critical path analysis
- Resource planning
- Schedule optimisation
- Drive a proactive approach to programme recovery and performance improvement.
- Operational Delivery – Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Subcontractors to ensure:
- Timely delivery of projects
- Consistent quality and compliance
- Strong safety performance
- Ensure effective coordination between installation and Commercial teams, particularly on complex or high-risk projects. Oversee subcontractor performance against programme of works.
- Customer & Stakeholder Management – Build strong, trusted relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Lead programme-level meetings, including:
- Progress reviews
- Risk and issue management
- Performance reporting
- Provide clear, concise updates on programme status, risks, and recovery plans.
- Risk & Compliance – Identify, manage, and mitigate programme-level risks. Ensure adherence to contractual requirements & internal governance processes. Drive a proactive risk-management culture through early identification and escalation.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience & Capability – Proven experience as a Programme Manager or Senior Project Manager within construction, infrastructure, or security systems. Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-project programmes. Strong commercial awareness with the ability to influence and challenge effectively.
- Knowledge – Strong working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 / NEC5 contracts, JCT contracts, and bespoke contracts.
- Planning & Systems – Experience in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret programme data and drive decisions.
- Leadership & Communication – Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive collaboration. Strong reporting capability – able to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Technical Knowledge (Desirable) – Understanding of high security and life safety systems, including CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Detection, Fire Systems. Experience within regulated or high-compliance environments (e.g. custodial, infrastructure, transport) & construction industry.
