An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive Health & Safety Coordinator to join a well-established facilities and engineering environment. This role is ideal for a health and safety professional who enjoys working across Hard FM and M&E operations, engaging with engineers on site, and driving continuous improvement in safety culture. You will play a key role in supporting a certified ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System, ensuring legal compliance while promoting best practice across maintenance activities, project works, and subcontractor operations.
- Support and maintain an ISO 45001-aligned Health & Safety Management System.
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and safety tours across client premises, plant rooms, and project sites.
- Review, coordinate, and maintain Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for FM and M&E activities.
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings to engineers and subcontractors.
- Monitor compliance with permit-to-work systems, safe systems of work, and subcontractor controls.
- Maintain accurate records for training, audits, accidents, and statutory compliance.
- Support performance monitoring through H&S KPIs, reports, and trend analysis.
- Contribute to environmental and sustainability initiatives aligned with ISO 14001 principles.
- Keep up to date with health & safety legislation and industry best practice, advising stakeholders accordingly.
The Suitable Candidate
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Experience or strong understanding of Hard FM and M&E environments, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and plant maintenance.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations, Permit-to-Work systems, LOTO, and confined spaces.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage engineers, managers, and subcontractors.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and H&S management systems (e.g. Joblogic, Assure, or similar).
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to multiple sites.
- Membership of IOSH or IIRSM.
- Environmental qualification.
- Awareness of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Internal training or instructional qualifications.
